# Password

The password page is a landing page that adds password protection to merchants' online stores in case they are not yet ready to go live.

Steps

1. In the theme editor (**Customize**), open the template selector.
2. Select **Other**, then **Password.**
3. On the left-sidebar, select **Main Password.**
4. Make necessary changes **> Save.**

## General settings

Change or add background color, image, text color, show overlay, and display full screen.

## Edit Content message and Password

Enable the password to restrict access to your online store. Only customers with a password can access it.

There are 2 ways to add the content message & password:

1. After click on the **Main password**, choose **Online store preferences.**
2. On the **Dashboard > Online Store > Preferences > Password protection.**
