# How to remove 'Powered by Shopify' in Copyright

By default, Shopify adds a **“Powered by Shopify”** message in your store’s footer.

If you'd like to remove it to keep your branding clean, you totally can — it’s a quick edit!

Steps:

1. In your Shopify Admin, go to: **Online Store > Themes > Actions > Edit default theme content**
2. Search for the text 'Powered by Shopify'
3. Remove the text and leave a blank space in the field.
4. Click **Save**.
