Pre-orders

Pre-order allows (new and returning) customers to purchase an item that has yet to be released or is already out-of-stock.

The Pre-order feature is essential for online businesses to boost revenue by replacing the standard Out-of-Stock notification and testing demand before owners officially release a product.

This feature only works with Minimog version from v2.4.0 and above.

How to set up pre-order product

1. Go to Shopify Admins > Products > Edit Variants, then:

  • Uncheck Track quantity option;

  • Or Check both Track quanity & Continue selling when out of stock options.

2. Go to FoxKit app > FoxKit power > Choose Pre-order.

3. Click Add pre-order product to start.

4. Set the Status as Active, then choose the date and time to start and end the Pre-order.

5. Choose the products you want to sell as pre-orders.

  1. Set the Condition to show the Pre-order button either as:

  • Always enable: The Pre-order button shows on all product variants;

  • Quantity is out of stock: The Pre-order button shows for out-of-stock variants.

To set the Pre-order button for out-of-stock variants only, in your Shopify Products > Inventory, you must check both the options Track quantity and Continue selling when out of stock.

  1. If you want to offer a discount for your pre-order products, select Activate discount, opt for the Discount type, and insert the Discount value. The discount is applied to each product.

  1. Set the Estimated shipping date of the pre-orders if needed.

  1. Select when the order should be fulfilled in the Delivery policy and how the inventory is reversed in the Inventory policy.

Delivery policy and Inventory policy settings are only available when the Purchase options is enabled.

  1. Save the settings.

How to configure Pre-orders settings

Steps:

  1. Go to FoxKit app > FoxKit power > Choose Pre-orders.

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Make necessary changes.

  4. Save the settings.

Purchase options

In the Purchase Options, you can ensure that all your pre-orders, both current and future, will follow the pre-configured purchase options.

This includes the dynamic checkout buttons and how customers interact with pre-order products.

Email notifications

FoxKit enabled merchants to automatically send email notifications after a customer purchases a preorder product or when the shipment date is updated.

  • Order Confirmation: To keep customers informed and ensure transparency during the preorder process.

  • Shipping Update: To keep customers up to date with changes, helping to manage their expectations and reduce inquiries related to shipment status.

If you want to make further changes for Order Confirmation and Shipping Update, from your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Notifications.

Pre-Order badges

You can activate and customize the Pre-order badges on product cards.

Enable/Disable the Pre-Order badges by toggling the Show badges option.

You can also choose the condition to show the badge by selecting the option from the Show badge when field:

  • The first variant is pre-order

  • At least 1 variant is pre-order

  • All variants are pre-order

Insert the content you want in the Badge text to show on the product cards.

New methods and options to show Pre-Order badges in the product cards were added to work with any theme (Click Instructions to integrate with your theme for the details).

If your Minimog theme version is older than v2.4.0, kindly to the latest version.

The shipping note message can be changed in Translation > .

Give the button a label to draw customers' attention (translate the button to any language using the feature).

You can change the button's design (colors and border radius property) in Settings > .
