# Back-in-stock Deactivation Plan

The **FoxKit Back in Stock** feature will be deactivated and no longer available after **May 1, 2026**.

We understand that Back in Stock has been an important tool for many merchants, and this decision was not made lightly. Over time, however, we’ve identified growing limitations in the existing feature - especially as stores need **more control, better timing, and more flexible automation** to effectively convert out-of-stock demand into sales.

To support more advanced use cases and long-term growth, we’ve built [**XFlow Back-in-Stock Automation**](https://apps.shopify.com/xflow?utm_source=foxecom\&utm_medium=help_center_foxkit_back_in_stock_deactivation\&utm_campaign=anchor_text\&utm_term=xflow_back_in_stock_automation), which will officially replace FoxKit’s Back in Stock feature.

This article walks you through **what’s changing, why it’s happening, and how to migrate smoothly** to XFlow.

## Key Dates & Timeline

### Now – April 30, 2026

FoxKit Back in Stock continues to work as usual. You can install and test XFlow in parallel.

### May 1, 2026

FoxKit Back in Stock will be **deactivated**. Restock notifications from FoxKit will stop sending.

To avoid disruption, we strongly recommend migrating to XFlow before this date.

## Why We’re Deactivating FoxKit Back in Stock

FoxKit Back in Stock was designed as a **simple notification tool**: Notify customers when a product is restocked.

However, customer needs have evolved.

Through real merchant usage and support feedback, we found that:

* One-time restock emails often miss conversion opportunities
* Merchants want control over **timing, follow-ups, and segmentation**
* Stores need more than email—such as internal alerts and push notifications
* Advanced flows (VIP access, delays, incentives) aren’t possible in FoxKit

Rather than continuing to add complexity to a limited system, we chose to build a **new automation-first solution** from the ground up. That’s XFlow Back in stock automation.

## XFlow: The New Back in Stock Solution

XFlow Back in Stock Automation is developed by the same FoxKit team. XFlow includes all the features you already love about FoxKit’s Back-in-Stock, plus more:

* Start the flow **before** the product restocks (subscription confirmation)
* Control **when** restock emails are sent
* Create **multi-step follow-ups** instead of one-off emails
* Segment customers (VIP, loyalty, previous buyers)
* Add incentives only when needed
* Notify your internal team in real time
* Combine email with other channels like push notifications

In short: If FoxKit helped you *notify*, XFlow helps you *convert*.

You can [learn more about how XFlow works here](https://apps.shopify.com/xflow?utm_source=foxecom\&utm_medium=help_center_foxkit_back_in_stock_deactivation\&utm_campaign=anchor_text\&utm_term=learn_more_about_how_xflow).

## How to Migrate from FoxKit to XFlow

Follow the steps below to migrate your Back in Stock subscriptions from FoxKit to XFlow without interrupting customer notifications.

Migration takes just one click and completes in seconds.

{% step %}

### Install XFlow

Install **XFlow Back in Stock Automation** from the Shopify App Store.

Install XFlow here

Once installed, open the app to begin setup.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Complete your XFlow setup

Before migrating subscriptions, ensure XFlow is fully configured.

Use XFlow’s visual builder to set up your restock flows. You can start simple one-email flow or build advanced flows with timing, conditions, and follow-ups.

* For the basic flow, follow [our step-by-step tutorial here](https://youtu.be/zyZZ5rRRHnI?utm_source=foxecom\&utm_medium=help_center_foxkit\&utm_campaign=backinstock_sunsetting)
* Or read the full guidelines on how to create a campaign [here](https://docs.foxecom.com/xflow-app/getting-started/installation/onboarding-checklist?utm_source=foxecom\&utm_medium=help_center_foxify_back_in_stock_deactivation_plan\&utm_campaign=anchor_text\&utm_term=here)
 {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Migrate subscriptions from FoxKit

{% hint style="warning" %}
XFlow supports migrating **pending Back in stock subscriptions** only (subscriptions that have not yet received a restock email).
{% endhint %}

To migrate your subscriptions:

{% hint style="success" %}
Steps:

1. Open the **FoxKit** app in your Shopify admin
2. Go to **Settings > General > API Integration**
3. Copy your **API Key.** *Learn more* [How to get API key](/foxkit-app/faq/how-to-get-api-key.md)
4. Open **XFlow** and navigate to **Subscriptions**
5. Select **Import**, then paste the API Key into the FoxKit migration section
6. Start the migration process.
 {% endhint %}

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Once the migration is complete, your subscriptions will automatically follow the XFlow campaign you’ve created. ✅

From this point on:

* Restock notifications are sent based on your XFlow workflow
* Timing, follow-ups, and conditions are handled automatically
* No further action is required

You’re now fully set up to manage Back in stock automation with XFlow. :tada:
{% endhint %}
