Import your design

Clone a website design into Foxify (FoxTransfer)

2 min read
Spotted a layout on another site you'd like on your own store? FoxTransfer copies it straight into your FoxStudio editor as a starting point — here's when it's worth reaching for, and how to turn what you copy into a page that's genuinely yours.

This feature is available on Growth and Enterprise plans.

How is this different from building manually?

Use this
Clone with FoxTransfer
You've found a layout elsewhere close to what you want, and rebuilding it element-by-element would be slow. You want a working structure to restyle, not a blank canvas.
Use instead if...
Build manually
You already have a clear design in mind, or you're building something small where cloning wouldn't save real time. Add elements one at a time from Add elements, styled from scratch.

How to clone a design

Grab the structure, not the whole design

With the FoxTransfer extension, copy smaller pieces — a text block, an image container, a button group — instead of an entire section. Smaller pieces are easier to restyle and won't drag in a deeply nested layout you'll fight with later.

Paste it into your editor

Paste with ⌘V (Mac) / Ctrl+V (Windows), or right-click and choose Paste from FoxTransfer. It lands wherever your cursor is, and costs 2 credits per paste.

Swap in your own images and copy

Toggle Convert images to placeholders when copying, then replace them with your own product photos and text. What you're borrowing is the layout — the content should be entirely yours.

Restyle to match your brand

Update colors, fonts, and spacing to your own global styles. A cloned layout that still looks like the original site isn't done yet.

Check every screen size

FoxTransfer only applies the design to the viewport you copied it in. Switch to desktop, tablet, and mobile and adjust manually — a design that only works on one screen isn't finished.

Double-check licensing before you publish

If the original used premium fonts or stock images, make sure you have the rights to use them — that responsibility falls on you, not Foxify.

FAQs

Is it okay to recreate a design from another site?
Layout structure — spacing, arrangement, general style — is fair game for inspiration. Copying someone's actual brand content, photos, or copy word-for-word isn't; replace those with your own.

Can I mix cloned and manually built sections on the same page?
Yes — it's common to clone one section for its layout, then build the rest of the page manually with your own elements.

Do I need to set up FoxTransfer before I can start?
Yes — install the Chrome extension and connect it to your store first. See the full FoxTransfer reference for setup steps and requirements.
