# SMS rates & Add funds to SMS balance
SMS in XFlow is prepaid. You add funds to your SMS balance, and the cost of each message is deducted when you send it. There's no monthly SMS subscription fee.
If your balance is too low, **SMS sending pauses across all countries**. Customers still receive emails and continue through the workflow.
Keep your balance topped up or enable auto top-up to avoid interruptions.

## SMS rates: how far your balance goes
Your SMS balance is in **USD** and shared across all countries. Each message is charged based on the recipient's country and the number of SMS segments.
The table below shows the cost per SMS by country and the estimated number of messages you can send with a $10, $50, or $100 balance:
These estimates are based on single-segment SMS messages (up to 160 standard characters). Longer messages or messages containing emojis may use multiple segments, increasing the cost.

With a $50 balance, you can send approximately **500 SMS to the United Kingdom** ($0.10 per SMS) or **3,333 SMS to the United States** ($0.015 per SMS).
## How to add funds to your XFlow SMS balance
1. Go to **Settings > SMS settings** and click **Add funds**.
2. Enter the amount you want to add (minimum $10).
3. Review the **Purchase summary**, including your discount, total payment, and balance after purchase.
4. Click **Add funds** to complete the payment.
The more you add, the higher your discount. The **full amount you enter** is credited to your SMS balance.

| **$100 or more** | 5% | Pay $95 → Get $100 balance |
If you add $100 to your SMS balance, you get a 5% discount. You pay only $95, but the full $100 is credited to your balance.
## Turn on auto top-up
Auto top-up automatically adds funds to your balance when it runs low, so your SMS back-in-stock alerts can continue sending without interruption.
Set the two amounts:
* **If balance falls below:** The balance threshold that triggers an automatic top-up. For example, $10.
* **Automatically add:** The amount added to your balance each time the threshold is reached. For example, $50. The minimum top-up amount is $10.
If you set the threshold to $10 and the top-up amount to $50, whenever your balance falls below $10, the system automatically adds $50 to your balance.
You can turn off auto top-up at any time by disabling the **Enable** toggle.
## When your balance runs low
If your balance can't cover the next SMS, XFlow skips SMS sending across all countries until you add more funds, even if your sender IDs are Active.
Customers still move to the next workflow step and receive emails as usual.
To avoid interruptions, **enable auto top-up** to refill your balance automatically when it runs low.
## Check SMS rates and estimates by country
SMS rates vary by destination. In **Rates & estimated SMS by country**, you can check:
* **Price / SMS:** The cost of sending one SMS to each country.
* **Est. SMS if sent only here:** The estimated number of SMS your current balance can cover if used entirely for that country.
Click **See all countries** to view the full list of supported destinations and their rates.
These estimates assume your entire balance is used for one country. Actual SMS capacity depends on where your messages are sent.
## Balance history
Balance history records every change to your SMS balance, including top-ups, SMS charges, and refunds.
You can filter transactions by **type, country, or date** to find specific activities.

Each transaction also shows the date, event, recipient, subscription, country, segments, amount charged or added, and remaining balance.
