# How XFlow tracks and attributes recovered revenue Recovered revenue shows how much revenue XFlow attributes to its notifications. This article explains how it is tracked, when it becomes billable, and how it affects your plan usage and fees. *** ## What is recovered revenue? **Recovered revenue (attributed revenue)** is the revenue generated from orders influenced by XFlow notifications — not your store's total revenue. *For example:* A shopper subscribes to a Back in Stock alert of XFLow → XFlow notifies them when the product is available again → they return and place an order. XFlow then checks how strongly the notification influenced the purchase. Based on the attribution confidence score, all, part, or none of the eligible product revenue is counted as recovered revenue. *Discounts are applied before attribution. Shipping, taxes, and unrelated products in the same order are excluded.* Attributed revenue is calculated from the moment a notification is sent, based on the confidence score. It is not limited to purchases made by clicking an XFlow email notification. ## How does XFlow attribute recovered revenue? XFlow uses a confidence-based attribution system to determine whether a notification contributed to a purchase and how much revenue should be attributed. ### Attribution calculation framework XFlow evaluates several factors: **Attribution windows** * **Standard window:** up to **7 days** after the email is **DELIVERED** * **Extended window:** up to **14 days** if the email was **ENGAGED** (opened or clicked) **Time decay logic** The closer the purchase is to the notification, the higher the confidence: | Time since notification | Confidence level | Why it matters | | ------------------------ | ---------------- | ------------------ | | 0–2 hours | 100% | Immediate response | | 2–24 hours | 90% | Same-day purchase | | 1–3 days | 75% | Strong connection | | 3–7 days | 50% | Moderate influence | | 7–14 days (engaged only) | 25% | Weak but possible | **Base confidence by customer action:** | Subscription status | Base confidence | Why it matters | | -------------------- | --------------- | :--------------------------------- | | Delivered → purchase | 60% | Received notification | | Engaged → purchase | 85% | Actively engaged with notification | Additional signals increase confidence: * Email opened: +10 points * Link clicked: +25 points * Multiple opens: +5 points each (max 3) * Product page visit: +15 points * Add to cart: +20 points * **Exact match (highest confidence):** * Notification **product ID** \= purchased product ID * Notification **variant ID** \= purchased variant ID → 100% confidence * **Indirect matches (reduced confidence):** | Scenario | Confidence | | ------------------------------- | ------------------- | | Same product, different variant | 80% | | Same collection | 40% | | Same vendor | 30% | | Different product | 0% (no attribution) | If a customer receives **multiple notifications** before purchasing, XFlow distributes attribution based on: * **Recency**: More recent notifications usually receive more credit. * **Engagement level**: Notifications the customer opened or clicked receive more credit Example: A customer receives three notifications before purchasing: * **Notification 1:** Delivered 3 days ago, with no engagement - 50% base confidence * **Notification 2:** Opened or clicked 1 day ago - 85% base confidence * **Notification 3:** Delivered 6 hours ago, with no engagement - 90% base confidence XFlow may distribute the attribution as follows: * **Notification 1: 10%** — older and not engaged. * **Notification 2: 60%** — recent and engaged. * **Notification 3: 30%** — most recent, but not engaged. These percentages show how the credit for the attributed order is divided between the notifications. XFlow combines several signals to estimate how strongly a notification contributed to a purchase: **Final confidence score \= (Base engagement confidence × Time decay × Product match) + Engagement bonus - Multi-touch penalty - External factor penalty** The final score is limited to a range of **0% to 100%** Example: A customer 1. Receives a notification for **Blue T-Shirt, Size M**. 2. Opens the email two hours later. 3. Clicks the product link. 4. Purchases the exact product and variant one day later. XFlow uses the following factors: * Base confidence for engagement: **85%** * Time decay for one day: **75%** * Exact product match: **100%** * Link-click engagement bonus: **+25 points** * Multi-touch penalty: **0** * External factor penalty: **0** **Calculation:** (85% × 75% × 100%) + 25 points \= **88.75%** Because the final confidence score is at least **80%**, XFlow attributes **100% of the eligible product revenue** to the notification. ### How XFlow decides the final attribute recovered revenue * **80–100% confidence:** 100% of eligible revenue is attributed. * **50–79% confidence:** Revenue is partially attributed based on the confidence score (Eligible revenue × Confidence score) * **Below 50% confidence:** No revenue is attributed. ## When does recovered revenue become billable XFlow always tracks recovered revenue so you can measure the value generated by the app. However, recovered revenue only becomes billable under specific conditions. On the Free plan, you can recover your **first 5 attributed orders** at no cost. During this stage: * XFlow continues to track recovered revenue for reporting. * Your first **5 attributed orders** are free. * No monthly subscription fee or usage fee is charged. * Revenue generated on the Free plan is **never billed later**, even if you upgrade to a paid plan. Once your store reaches the 5-order limit, your workflows assigned to active campaign are automatically are **paused** until you **upgrade to a paid plan**. When you upgrade from the Free plan to a paid plan for the first time, your **Usage tracker resets to $0**, and your 7-day free trial begins. During the trial: * Recovered revenue is displayed in the Usage tracker. * No monthly subscription fee is charged. * No usage fee is charged. When the trial ends, your Usage tracker does **not** reset. Any recovered revenue tracked during the trial remains in the tracker and will be included when calculating future usage fees based on your selected plan. After your first trial ends, recovered revenue becomes eligible for billing. Your recovered revenue tracker: * keeps the revenue accumulated during the trial; * resets to **$0** on the **1st of every month**. * accumulates throughout the month; and * is used to calculate usage fees when it exceeds your plan's included revenue. Once you're on a paid plan, XFlow compares your monthly recovered revenue with the amount included in your plan. * If your recovered revenue stays **within your plan's included amount**, you only pay your monthly subscription fee. * If it **exceeds your included amount**, a usage fee is charged for the additional revenue. A usage fee applies each time you go over your plan’s included amount by up to an additional $1,000. Even going over by just $1 triggers one full usage fee charge. How usage fees are calculated Changing plans does **not** reset your recovered revenue during the month. Instead: * Your current month's recovered revenue carries over to the new plan. * Any usage fees already charged remain unchanged. * Future usage fees are calculated using the plan that is active when new usage milestones are reached. If you downgrade to the Free plan, XFlow continues recording recovered revenue for reporting, but no new usage fees are generated while you're on Free. Revenue accumulated during the Free period is never billed retroactively if you upgrade again later. Your **recovered revenue** resets only when: * **On the 1st of every month** – a new monthly billing cycle begins. * **When you upgrade from the Free plan to a trial plan** — your recovered revenue resets to **$0**. ### ## FAQs **When does my recovered revenue tracker reset?**
