# Cart

The **cart** is where customers review the products they want to purchase before proceeding to checkout. 

You can choose how the cart is displayed, enable additional cart features, set a free shipping goal, recommend collections when the cart is empty, and offer gift wrapping.

## Cart settings

Control how the cart appears and which options customers can use before checkout.

Control the shape and appearance of product thumbnails in the cart.

## Free shipping goal

Display a progress bar in the cart to show customers how much more they need to spend to reach your free shipping threshold.

  The free shipping goal **only displays progress** toward your threshold. It does not create a free shipping rate.   <br />The Free shipping goal is based on the store's primary currency. If no custom currency amounts are entered and a customer switches to another currency, the goal will be calculated using Shopify market [exchange rates](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/markets/pricing/exchange-rates).

## Cart empty recommendation

When the cart is empty, recommend collections to give customers an easy way to continue shopping.

## Gift wrapping

Offer customers the option to add gift wrapping to their order.
