# Language selector

A multilingual website will attract new users from other countries and increase your sales.

To display a language dropdown as in the image above in your store, check out the following steps:

## Add a language to your online store

<Stepper>

    From your Shopify admin, go to **Settings** > [**Languages**](https://admin.shopify.com/settings/languages).
  </Step>

  <Step>
    Click **Add language**.

  <Step>
    In the **Add language** dialog, select a language from the drop-down menu, and then do either of the following:

    * If you don't have international domains set up, or if you have only one market, then click **Add**.
    * If you have more than one market and have [international domains](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/international/managing-international-domains) set up, then select the active markets that you want to add your language to:
      1. Click **Next**.
      2. Toggle any markets that you want to add the language to.
      3. Click **Done**.

    Do either of the following to add translations:

    * Use the [Translate & Adapt app](https://apps.shopify.com/translate-and-adapt) to [import your translated content](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/international/localization-and-translation#exporting-importing-translations) into Shopify.
    * Visit the [Shopify App Store](https://apps.shopify.com/collections/works-with-shopify-markets?app_integration_pos=off\&app_integration_shopify_checkout=off\&category=store-design-internationalization\&pricing=all\&requirements=off\&sort_by=collection_position) and install a translation app to your store. Follow the steps in the app to translate your online store's content and publish new languages.

## Limitations of selling in multiple languages

* Only [compatible third-party translation apps](https://apps.shopify.com/collections/apps-for-store-languages) are supported by this feature.
* [Tags](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/shopify-admin/productivity-tools/using-tags) (such as product tags, article tags, and blog tags) can't be translated.
* URL slugs, such as `/products/en-ca/shoes` can be translated into `/products/es-mx/zapatos` but the word `products` cannot be translated
* URL slugs cannot be customized for markets. Translations can only be added for URL slugs on all markets where a language is visible.
