# Show payment icons on footer

**Payment icons** help customers quickly **recognize the payment methods your store accepts**, building trust before checkout.

## Show payment icons on the theme footer

1. Go to **Online Store > Themes > Edit theme**.
2. Open the **Footer** section.
3. Turn on **Show payment icons**.
4. Click **Save**.

## Why aren't payment icons showing?

**Only payment options accepted through** **Shopify Payments** will automatically display their icons in the footer. [Learn more about Shopify Payments](https://help.shopify.com/manual/payments/shopify-payments).

**What can you do?**

* **Contact Shopify Support:** For the latest information and potential workarounds, we suggest you contact Shopify Support. They can provide the most up-to-date details on the payment method icon display.

## Manually customize footer payment icons

By default, your theme displays payment icons based on the payment methods enabled in **Shopify Payments setting.** If you'd like to show a custom set of payment icons, you can **update the footer code** and specify exactly which icons to display.

**Steps:**

1. Go to **Online Store > Themes**.
2. Next to your current theme, click **⋯** > **Edit code**
3. In the **Sections** folder, open **`footer.liquid`**
4. Locate the following code: `{%- for type in shop.enabled_payment_types -%}`![](https://docs-assets.foxecom.app/shared-documentation/4b513443-ea4d-47c8-a0b3-a174cc0e50a8.png)
5. **Replace it** with the following code: <br/>`{% assign enabled_payment_types = 'visa,master,american_express,paypal' | remove: ' ' | split: ',' %}`<br/>`{% for type in enabled_payment_types %}`
6. In the new code, update the list of **payment providers separated by commas**.<br/>For example: `'visa,master,american_express,paypal'`![](https://docs-assets.foxecom.app/shared-documentation/bdb6fa92-2028-423a-9a4d-902bf654c8c1.png)<br/>The list of payment providers determines which icons appear in your footer.<br/>**Add/Remove** a provider to **display/hide** its icon. <br/>When adding a payment provider, use the **icon name** exactly as listed. For example: `visa`, `master`, or `paypal`
7. **Save** your changes.
