# Set up quantity rules and volume pricing in B2B

Leverage quantity rules and volume pricing on Shopify to establish specific quantity requirements or offer tiered price discounts for your B2B orders.

***For example:***

* If you want to sell a product in specific increments to your B2B customers or limit the quantity a customer can purchase at once, you can set [quantity rules](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/catalogs/quantity-pricing#quantity-rules).
* If you want to offer price discounts to customers who purchase a certain quantity of a product, you can set up [volume pricing](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/catalogs/quantity-pricing#volume-pricing).

**Quantity rules** and **Volume pricing** are managed together but can also be used independently based on your business needs.

## Initial steps <a href="#initial-steps" id="initial-steps"></a>

**S**teps:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to **Products** > [**Catalogs**](https://admin.shopify.com/catalogs).
2. Click the catalog that you want to edit or [**create a new catalog**](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/catalogs/creating-catalogs#create-a-catalog) if one is not available.
3. In the **Products and pricing** section, click **Manage** > **Manage products and pricing**.

## Set quantity rules for your products using catalogs

You can set quantity rules in the **Catalogs** section of your Shopify admin, or by [importing a CSV](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/catalogs/creating-catalogs#export-and-import-catalogs).

Steps:

1. Choose to set quantity rules for a product or for a specific product variant:
   1. To set quantity rules for all variants of a product, hover over the product that you want to edit.
   2. To set quantity rules for a specific product variant, click the link to the variants underneath the product name, and then hover over the product variant that you want to edit.
2. In the **Quantity rules** column, click **+ Add**.

3. In the **Edit quantity rules and volume pricing** dialog, do the following:

* In the **Increment** field, enter an increment quantity for a product.
* In the **Minimum** field. enter the minimum quantity for a product that a customer needs to purchase.
* In the **Maximum** field, enter the maximum quantity for a product to limit the amount of the variant that a customer can purchase in one order *(optional).*
* Review your quantity rules, and then click **Done**.

5. Click **Save**.

**Note:** All quantity rules set in your catalogs apply to each product's variants independently, not to the product as a whole.

*For example:* If you set a minimum quantity rule for a product with multiple color variants, then the customer needs to purchase at least that quantity of all the same color variants.

## Set volume pricing for your products using catalogs <a href="#volume-pricing" id="volume-pricing"></a>

Volume pricing lets you offer additional price breaks to customers when they purchase larger quantities of a product in a single order. You can add up to 10 price breaks per product which are applied to each variant.

You can set volume pricing in the Catalogs section of your Shopify admin, or by [importing a CSV](https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/b2b/catalogs/creating-catalogs#export-and-import-catalogs).

Steps:&#x20;

1. Choose to set volume pricing for a product or for a specific product variant:
   1. To set volume pricing for all variants of a product, hover over the product that you want to edit.
   2. To set volume pricing for a specific product variant, click the link to the variants underneath the product name, and then hover over the product variant that you want to edit.
2. In the **Volume pricing** column, click **+ Add**.
3. In the **Edit quantity rules and volume pricing** dialog, do the following:
   1. In the **Volume pricing** section, click **+ Add quantity price breaks**.
   2. In the **Quantity** section, enter a price for the first price break. Price break quantities must be greater than the minimum order quantity, as well as a multiple of the increment that you set in your quantity rules.
   3. Optional: To add multiple price breaks for the same product, click **Add break**, and then enter a price for additional price breaks.
   4. Review your volume pricing, and then click **Done**.
